The Ferrari Technicians Guild
The first offering from this group, due in Spring of 2008, is the two CD set on Ferrari restoration and tuning .One of the strengths
of an audio CD presentation is that allows you to learn as you drive to work, when are stuck in traffic, or just out for for a bit
of a rip through the countryside. The choice to go with an audio CD frees you from your computer or a dry technical manual, and allows
you to easily review technical segments that are of particular interest to you
"Ferrari Restoration Principles" is the first CD in this two part boxed set, and will give an in depth look an creating a solid
restoration plan for your car. Many problem arise in the restoration process and the best way to minimize this is to have a restoration
plan based on successful restoration projects that have been completed by experienced professionals in the field.
This CD will
explore workspace requirements, sequencing of the work, restoration goals and project budgeting, inventory control practices
for the individual parts and pieces, coachwork issues, paint, chrome plating, metal finishes, and the reassembly process.
" 12 Cylinder Tuning" is the second CD in this set , and will give an in- depth look at creating a sound technical approach
to properly tuning any twelve cylinder motor. It will begin with the process of of examining tuning as both an art and a scientific
process. From the combination of these two concepts a formal technical plan will be created as the structure for beginning the process
of tuning.
Each aspect of the technical process will be examined and will cover 4 stroke engine principles, proper compression
testing as a baseline for tuning , cam timing theory and application as it applies to tuning, required tools, basic and advanced
ignition testing and repair, electronic ignitions, and carburetion set up and adjustment.
COMING IN SPRING OF 2008!
The Guild was created in 2006 in order to address an ever increasing demand for accurate technical inormation and training for owners of vintage Italian Cars. As the value of these cars has increased, there has been a tremendous influx of information from the web on service and repair for Italian classics. In many cases the information is quite accurate, and in some cases it is either seriously inaccurate or incomplete. The Guild is currently working on several offerings to assist owners of vintage Italian cars in their search for technical education about restoration and service issues.
