Basic Distributor Service:
$150 per distributor
This inclues a complete strip down, cleaning and lubrication of all
the internal parts, point adjustment, point resistance and dwell test, phasing of the points, rotor phasing test, and a measurement
of the advance curve. A written evaluation report and recommendation of needed repairs is also included.
Please note that
the basic service is primarily designed to bring the distributor up to its best level of performance in its current condition, and
to evaluate it for needed repairs that will bring it up to factory specifications. Unless the distributor is in very bad condition,
there will always be some performance gain from the basic service.
It is important to realize that due to general age and delayed
maintenance hat it is very rare for one of these distributors to not require additional repairs to function as delivered
from the factory.
Distributors fitted with electronic ignitions may incur a small surcharge depending upon the quality and serviceability
of the installation.
Internal Mechanical Repairs: $85 per hour
Advance Curve Calibration:
$85 per hour
Each distributor must be calibrated to match the factory specified advance curve. Once all the worn parts in the distributor
are repaired, the calibration process can begin which consists of fine tuning the spring tension through the use of precision shims.
This process can be time consuming as it is exacting work requiring a near complete disaassembly for each test run. This is the only
way however to guarantee that both distributors have matching advance curves. The performance gains from this portion of the work
can be quite significant.
Ignition Coil Testing
$25 per coil
This includes cleaning of the primary and secondary terminals, a coil resistance test, oscilloscope testing for internal
shorts, and new nuts and washers.
Custom Services:
$85 per hour
A full range of custom services is available including full cosmetic restoration, electronic ignition installation,
mechanical reconstruction, bearing replacement, and thread repair.
Shipping Costs are billed at the actual cost of shipment and insurance. If re-boxing is required an additional charge of $6
will be incurred.
Services, Rates and Payment Methods
Internal repairs to the weights, the springs, the pivots, and the advance weight housing often require both welding and machining. An estimate for these repairs will be provided based on the findings of the basic service.
